Probably the most comprehensive photographic documentation in book form of Palmyra – the ruincity in the desert 215 km northeast of the capital Damascus in Syrien. A truly magnificent work that has no comparison. Each book is enclosed in a linen dressed slip case.
Why? The question goes to the author, Eric Ericson, who since 1996 made 13 trips to Syria to tell about the ancient ruincity. “I am a ruin romantic and Palmyra is such a beautiful and desolate place. The stones also breed thoughts of all civilizations transience. Just as we think for sure, the citizens of Palmyra thought that their society would last forever.” 72 color large format images • Afterword by Kristian Petri • Translation to English: Amber Morris • Editor: Gösta Flemming • Hard cover in a slip case • 350 x 275 mm • 162 pages • Swedish/English • 2009
